Math and Democracy Workshop for Bosnian Schools

This June, IMD’s Prof. Ismar Volić will lead a workshop for high school math teachers in Sarajevo, Bosnia. The workshop will provide the tools for the teachers to integrate the mathematics of democratic processes like voting and apportionment into their curriculum, enriching students’ understanding of the intersection of math and politics. 

As part of the 15th annual Days of BHAAAS conference (June 20-23), the workshop will reach scholars and teachers from around the country and the world. This is an exciting opportunity to help teachers educate their students about useful applications of mathematics and to continue connecting mathematics and democracy across the world. IMD looks forward to continuing these outreach efforts and integrating politics into mathematics education.
