IMD is excited to be co-organizing a Mathematics for Humanity Workshop on “Mathematics of Voting and Representation” at the International Centre for Mathematical Science. This workshop will take place from June 10-14th, 2024 at the Edinburgh Futures Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Applications to attend are now available and will close on Friday, April 5th at 15.00 BST: https://www.icms.org.uk/mathsofvotingandrepresentation

Centering on topics that lie in the intersection of mathematics and democracy, this workshop will bring together researchers in the fields of computer science, economics, mathematics, and political science to speak about topics such as voting, social choice, representation, and districting.

Among the scientific organizers are two IMD affiliates–Dr. Jeanne Clelland from University of Colorado Boulder and Dr. David McCune from William Jewell College. IMD Co-Founder Dr. Ismar Volić is also on the organizing team. Speakers include a number of IMD affiliates, from Dr. Moon Duchin at Tufts University to Dr. Eric Maskin of Harvard University. We hope you’ll apply to join this community of scholars at this exciting conference!
