Will of the People – A Panel Discussion in Edinburgh, Scotland
As part of the Mathematics for Humanity workshop on Mathematics for Voting and Representation taking place at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences in Edinburgh this June, IMD is co-organizing a panel discussion on the mathematics of voting methods. The panel, titled “Will of the People: The Mathematics of How We Vote and Why It Matters,” will be held on Tuesday 11 June at 6:00 pm.
IMD affiliates Dr. Moon Duchin of Tufts University and Dr. Eric Maskin of Harvard University will speak alongside Dr. John Curtice of the University of Strathclyde. Each speaker will introduce their mathematical perspective on voting methods and their significance, and a discussion moderated by IMD affiliate Dr. Alma Steingart of Columbia University will follow.
IMD is excited to be co-organizing this workshop, especially given the importance of mathematical discussions of voting ahead of the UK General Election taking place in July. While the event is currently sold out, please follow this link to learn more and join the waitlist.
