Students create teaching modules for mathematics and politics
For their final projects in the Mathematics and Politics class taught at Wellesley College this summer, students worked in groups to create a number of teaching modules. Topics covered in the modules are
- Electoral college
- Plurality vs. majority
- Ranked choice voting
- Arrow’s theorem
- Cardinal voting methods
- Multiple winner elections
- Apportionment
- Power indices
Each module provides history and background information, examples, exercises, and more. Discussion questions and materials for further study are also given. If you think these modules might be useful to you, please feel free to use them in your courses or anywhere else.
