Bruce Boghosian, IMD Affiliate & Mathematics Professor at Tufts University, Spent the Summer Teaching Math and Politics

Bruce Boghosian is an IMD affiliate and mathematics professor at Tufts University. He spent his summer teaching and giving lectures in math and social justice.

In May, he gave a presentation at the Collège de France called “Recent Progress in Modeling Wealth Inequality and Upward Mobility.” During the talk, he discussed new ideas of thinking, modeling, and measuring wealth inequality that challenge traditional approaches to the problem. His results affect the “mathematics of inequality.” The full video of the presentation is available here.

Additionally, Boghosian continued the exploration of the math of poverty in his teaching. Over the summer, he taught a course “An Introduction to the Mathematics of Wealth Distributions” at Tufts that he plans to teach again in summer 2022. This fall, he is teaching “The Mathematics of Poverty and Inequality.”
